The Pistons duds make the top 10 partially because we're legally required to include Ben Wallace in each of these top 10 lists, partially because the teal-based styling that came before it was so horrid, but mainly because it's a cool-looking, simple uniform. Also, Ben Wallace wore one.



9 Los Angeles Lakers Sunday whites

It's pretty cool to get a little tradition out of this modern-as-tomorrow league, and the idea that most Sunday nights since the 2002-03 has seen the Los Angeles Lakers working at home while wearing these white uniforms just scans as pretty cool to me. Also, 18 seconds worth of research revealed that the whites are a tribute of sorts to the late Lakers broadcaster Chick Hearn.



8 Los Angeles Clippers cursivey goodness

The team is usually miserable, and any outfit that has Chris Kaman(notes) and/or Sam Cassell(notes) sporting it for good stretches usually has its work cut out for it. But you've got to dig the '60s-style cursive Clipper font, alongside the basic-but-still-fetching color scheme. Yeah, I said "fetching." What of it?



7 New York/Jersey Nets ABA throwbacks

Stuck in an otherwise dreary, low-scoring Finals, the Nets livened things up a bit in Game 5 of the series by busting out the only throwback jersey to be used in a playoff game that I can remember. The look didn't really help New Jersey's chances, the Spurs took a 3-2 lead in the series after the pivotal Game 5 win, but the switch in style was much appreciated



6 San Antonio Spurs' staid, simple, solid

Apologies to their fans for busting out the Thesaurus once again to find a new word for "boring," but I dig the basic black and silver that San Antonio has been tossing out from October to June in just about every year of the Tim Duncan(notes) era. Of course, that simplicity was once threatened by the fiesta-era Spurs, but once the team ditched Charles Smith, it just all came together.

5 Washington Bullets


They're just cool uniforms, and a huge departure from the crap duds that the Washington Wizards dress up in most nights. And, yes, there have been four uniforms with a red, white and blue color scheme in the first six rankings of this list. From the mountains to the prairies, my man, to the oceans white with foam



4 Chicago Bulls

Menacing and cool, the red and the black. I once read an album review for the Pretenders' first album that took three paragraphs to mention a single musical hallmark of the LP, instead spending its time discussing just how the prominent red and black on the album cover represented sex and the devil and death, and that sex and the devil and death would always be cool, so this album is cool. All I know is this uniform even made Brad Sellers look cool, so I'm into it.



3 Cleveland Cavaliers' wine and gold

A fantastic throwback uniform that looks like it was cooked up in some hipster-driven, Undrcrwn sweat shop. Toss in what is easily the coolest warmup jacket I have ever seen, and you have something worthy of a Brookynite with a PBR in his hand. A fan of the comedic stylings of David Wain, I'd guess.



2 Golden State's "The City"

It says "The City" on the front, there is a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge, and there's a cable car on the back. Tell me you don't want one. Hell, Speedy Claxton(notes) (pictured, above) is still limping around Atlanta in his "City" jersey to this day.



1 Boston Celtics

It's green and white. When they're at home, they wear white. When they play on the road, they wear green. It looks fantastic, and it's been around for about a trillion years. Or 63 years. Whatever. Basic is good, classic is good, and 17 championships help.

Rating the New Home Jerseys of Boston Celtics

Boston Celtics home jerseys

Green and White. It's that simple. No border colors, no bumpers and just two slivers of green on the shorts wrap up the best uniform in the NBA. The green waistband is also a nice throwback touch. Plus the shamrock above the name is a great addition.




Now if only the Celtics could ditch those hideous alternates that incorporate black in the color scheme.

Cleveland Cavaliers' New jerseys for the next season

Cavaliers unveiled the team’s new authentic uniforms for the 2010-11season in front of an enthusiastic crowd hosted by the team. The “new expression of wine and gold” home and road authentic uniforms reflect the colors and style elements from the earliest years of the Cavs.




The authentic adidas uniforms feature a deep wine and bright gold that echo the hues from the early 1970s, with a simplistic, yet bold, design and introduce several new and unique design elements. The front of the home white jersey displays a new official team wordmark “CAVALIERS” in wine across the chest, and the front of the road wine jersey the new wordmark reads “CLEVELAND” in white.



Now that LeBron is gone, the team has to make money somehow on merchandise. The design change is likely in response to what can only be lower revenue streams via merchandise without LeBron.

Los Angeles Clippers New Jerseys Released

LA Clippers have recently released their new jerseys for the 2010-11 NBA season. Clippers had a bad time last season; I hope the new jerseys would some good luck for them!! Let’s check the jerseys.




What Looks Good: Not much has changed on the Clippers jersey. The font on the front of the jersey is small, but retains the cursive writing. The more block font on the numbers gives the jersey a modern feel. They also diminished what was a very obvious bumper on sides of the uniforms.



What We're Not Crazy About: The Clippers are already the second team in a crazy basketball city. How can it help to shrink the font on the front of the jersey? That's just like a subliminal message cementing their status as the city's secondary team and one of the worst in the NBA over the last two-plus decades.



Ranking or Rating: B-. The Clippers receive an average grade for effort. The block font on the numbers is a nice touch and getting rid of the bumpers is a wise move. In the end though, there wasn't enough of a dramatic change for the positive to push the grade higher.

As far as many can not wait to see the return to the city of LeBron LeBron-less when his only claim to fame was the home of King Jacques, this game will have to wait.

What makes it more interesting to watch as the Rockets opening night Thunder?


On the one hand, knows the Thunder crash the red carpet.

In April 1989, professional players were allowed to participate in the Olympic Games by FIBA. USA Basketball began turning to the NBA to supply players for 1992 Olympic. The first ten players for the Dream Team were officially selected on September 21, 1991: Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen of the Chicago Bulls, John Stockton and Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz, Magic Johnson of the Los Angeles Lakers, Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics, Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, Chris Mullin of the Golden State Warriors, David Robinson of the San Antonio Spurs, and Charles Barkley of the Philadelphia 76ers (later traded to the Phoenix Suns). David Robinson had played with the 1988 Olympic team, and was especially eager to earn a gold medal at Barcelona.




Clyde Drexler of the Portland Trail Blazers was added to the team on May 12, 1992, along with Christian Laettner of Duke University. Laettner was the only player selected for the national team without any professional experience, and beat out Louisiana State University's Shaquille O'Neal for the final spot on the roster



Then the greatest basketball team ever was assembled. In 1996, 10 of the 12 players on the "Dream Team" were named among the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History."

With Yao Ming returning from his injured foot and his minutes restricted, Rockets need a experienced backup center to take up the space and do something in the paint.

The Rockets acquired guard Kevin Martin in addition to Shane Battier, Jordan Hill, Chase Buddinger, making Ariza, and his contract, unnecessary. Trading him should help them to dump salary and avoid paying a substantial luxury-tax bill this season. They also received a $6 million trade exception in the deal.

O’Neal looking forward to retiring at Boston
